CLOCKED MILEAGE - DO NOT BUY FROM THESE. Bought a car from these (when they traded under the name of Ashton Prestige Cars), with 40,000 miles on the clock. Sold it to We Buy Any Car 16 months later who then came back to reveal the car had been sold to this dealer previously through British Car Auctions with 53,000 miles on the clock.

I went with my daughter to look for her first car, we initially chose a blue one and they got it mot'd for us but when her father went with her a couple of days later she chose a different car, there was no issue with swapping the deposit to the new car, it was MOT'd and checked for us and collected yesterday, my daughter is thrilled with it. I found Ashton Prestige to be honest, easy to deal with and very accommodating.

Sham car seller. Now goes by the name of Gateway Cars. Same proprietor, same dodgy cars. Do not buy anything without the cars history. Says he has it, but doesn’t. Check out the company on companies house. Opens and closes businesses (liquidation) more times than a kitchen door. Crook.

I got a car delivered from this company a few months ago, when it arrived it was completely disgusting and covered in stains all over the seats/wheel etc, mud or sand on the floor and the passenger door handle was almost hanging off. I decided to just get the car cleaned to save any hassle. The ad for the car stated it was road tax free, I messaged them and got back “Im sure it’s 6 months free”- it was not but I received no further response than this and again just let it go as it was only £30. I was also told the car would come with a full service history which it didn’t, I again messaged and was advised this would be sent within 5 days along with the logbook, after 3 weeks neither of these things were sent so I messaged again and received no response. Upon driving the car once or twice I noticed a loud creaking noise and decided to stop driving it until I could get a mechanic to look at it. Before I got a chance to do this, I had to return home to Ireland (bringing the car with me). However after driving off the ferry I noticed the car’s miles for the first time- over 127,000. This is about triple the amount of miles the car was advertised to have. Who would ever pay £4500 for a Fiat 500 with almost 130,000 miles?? I was completely missold and after emailing them a full complaint I finally received a text message to let me know they had finally bothered to send the v5 (still no service history) and to “please call us to discuss regarding your car”. The last thing I would do is let this complete scam of a company have any conversation with me that I wouldn’t have record of so I advised them I would like all correspondence in writing/to reply to my email. To this day I have not received any response from them whatsoever. AVOID.

Bought a 2013 Fiat 500 in early December 2022 costing £7,200. The car came newly MOT’d and serviced by APC’s own garage. Within 6 days the car broke down and had to be towed home. The car after resting was still drivable, and APC asked us to take it their garage in Salford. My daughter took the car to their garage as requested but after being made to feel very uncomfortable by the mechanic, she brought the car home, without it being looked at. I spoke to APC to explain what had happened and told them that I wasn’t happy bringing the car to their garage and that I’d like to take it to our own. They agreed. We booked it into our own garage but the next day the car broke down again on the motorway, the AA confirmed it had two faults which related to the gearbox and towed it to our garage as it was undriveable and they deemed it not safe to drive. Our mechanic, confirmed it had gearbox faults but was unable to pinpoint an exact fault, although it looked like the actuator and APC also suggested this as they had come across this problem before. Our mechanic on closer inspection found a large number of issues, inc. gearbox, clutch, timing belt, brakes, shockers, missing bolts, straps, the lid was endless. And the repair bill was £2,300 not including the cost of actuator being sent to a specialist in Stoke on Trent to fix. The AA and our mechanic said there was no evidence that the car had been recently serviced and in the condition it was in, it shouldn’t have passed the MOT. I relayed this information back to APC to ask if they were prepared to pay half of the costs of getting the car into a safe and drivable condition. Not surprisingly they refused and said the 3 month warranty will cover costs of £500 and that they would pay £475 to repair the actuator but that is all they would pay and it was my choice to go ahead with the rest of the repairs. They said I could take it to their garage but I refused, given it was their garage that had released the car in this condition . I told them I had no confidence in their garage fixing the car. And that my garage would be carrying out the work. My garage completed the work yesterday and my daughter has used her car until today, when it’s broken down again, with two further clutch/gearbox faults. The car is currently being towed to Stoke on Trent to be looked at, at what cost I don’t know. I have contacted APC who have stated it’s not their responsibility and they paid for the actuator fixing. They have refused our request to accept the car back and give us a refund. So we are three months in to owning a new car from them, costing £7,200 plus £2,300 to repair it, three call out for the AA, my daughter being without a car for almost three months and now no car at all and yet another repair bill. My advice to anyone thinking of buying a car from APC… Don’t!! They are happy to take your money but refuse to take responsibility for selling cars that are unsafe, and undriveable. We are currently in the process of seeking legal advice and reporting them to Trading Standards.
