Established in 1982, the bustling no frills family-run Faulkner Street restaurant is widely recognised for its quick service and for serving up its signature roasted dishes, such as Hong Kong style roast duck, crispy belly pork and barbecue char siu pork, that attracts the hordes. My husband I visited this place for the first time yesterday and we weren’t disappointed. For a Sunday tea time the place was very busy -people were queuing for table. The food was very good and the service was good – staff were polite and helpful despite being so busy. We will be back. We visited here on Saturday night and can honestly say this is the best Chinese meal we have ever had (and we’ve had a lot). Can’t recommend it highly enough for the quality of the food (amazing) the price (unbelievable value) and the service (spot on). We will definitely be coming here again. My family and I are regular visitors to Happy Seasons and have never had a bad meal yet. The food is tasty and fresh, the service I have received is always pleasant and the overall value is good, including drink prices. The restaurant also has a clientele which are primarily Chinese families and couples (which, in my mind is always a good sign in a Chinese restaurant)Some may say that the decor seems a little dated, however, the place is clean (important) and the food is excellent (very important) so it doesn’t matter one bit to me if the restaurant’s chairs and wallpaper are not ultra trendy. So if you are looking for a Uber cool and trendy restaurant, furnished in the latest decor but are happy to eat mediocre food, then Happy Seasons is not for you However, if you want good freshly prepared food, pleasant service and good value not only on the food but the drinks. Then this is the place for you.

I’m a huge huge fan of Happy Seasons often however this is the first I’m going to put a bad review mainly because of the pathetic service from the staff. I understand it’s not a fine dine restaurant but anyone who goes out for dinner with their family and friends would like to have nice time and not rush into things and act like a Robot because that’s what the staff makes you do. Happy seasons is always busy of course because of the excellent food they serve but that doesn’t mean one customer has to eat faster because restaurants has other customers in queue. Every customer is after all paying the money for the meal they are having. I was there with my family and we’re served main course before our soup and starters when we not only requested but the law of dinning says have soup and starters first and then meal. When we requested again to serve starters first, the lady from the staff arrogantly told that ‘there’s a long queue of customers and we don’t want to waste time. Soup and starters will take time to cook so have main course first’. Disgusting it is. When we’re giving food order to that staff lady, she was in so rush and didn’t even let us think or take time to go through the menu and even when we’re asking about the food delicacy or the ingredients or the spice level etc. she was rude and didn’t seem to be interested in responding. When we requested not to pour the additional salt that they do on top of cooked salt and pepper chicken, She very rudely and arrogantly replied saying ‘how do you know if we pour salt on top of it you can’t even see what our Chef’s do downstairs in the kitchen’ we said it’s not our first time here we love salt and pepper chicken it’s just that the additional crystal salt on top of chicken is to much. She still didn’t acknowledged it and said ‘yeah will see’. I felt like customers aren’t welcomed there even after paying for it. Very disappointing really. Feedback is serve your customers who are sitting already and eating well rather reminding them or making them feel that there are other customers in the queue. We don’t go to happy seasons to think about other customers because that’s not what I’m paying for rather I’m paying for the food and the service.

Stopped by here to grab lunch before catching my train home. I ordered the 3 roast meat with rice. The roast meats were full of flavour. My friend ordered soy chicken with rice and that was tasty too. It’s a very busy place so best get there early or avoid busy dining hours. When it gets busy, it can be slow getting service. Will definitely visit this place to try the dim sum next time I’m back in Manchester.

Gets very crowded around 6-7pm so best come a little early if possible. Duck is decent and is the most popular item on the menu with practically every table ordering it. The salt and pepper ribs or squid is good too and worth a try. Portions are on the larger side so consider that when ordering.

Actually a really nice place to eat, proper authentic Chinese menu with loads of choice... I was recommended here by one of the local pubs, around the corner and I'm glad to have stopped by. Very busy, as the short queue outside confirmed that I was at the right restaurant. Foodwise, I really fancied a sweet and sour chicken but I opted for the crispy beef instead as that's one of my other go to dishes. So glad I did as it was probably the best I've ever had, and so filling too! Will definitely be back at some point. Only real gripe was the additional service charge added to the bill, but in this case, it was worth it as the service and food was excellent! 🍚 🍛

We had wondered what all the fuss was about, with people queueing outside, a little free advertising and a bit gimmicky, but well worth the wait. We didn't wait long during the week tbh. Food was plentiful in large portions. After we didnt feel at all bloated, I would imagine this was down to fresh cooking. It was a very fast paced environment to eat in, people in, people out. A must for city centre workers on their lunch. Service charge added, but ask for it to be removed and leave your own tip instead. Will definitely be returning again very soon when we are in town. Reasonabley priced to. Enjoy.
