When I created Ippon Karate Academy, I wanted to promote karate as an activity the whole family can enjoy. With no contracts or expensive equipment and training from as little as £3 per session, anyone can enjoy Ippon Karate Academy. All my instructors are qualified, insured and DBS checked.

My 4-year-old daughter joined last year. At first, I was not sure if it would be good for her, as she is quite young and her mother language is not English. However, it is amazing to see how much she has grown up and how much confidence she has gained. Senseis are all very supportive, and the other classmates are also very nice to the little ones.

All senseis are very supportive and understanding. Throughout the months, I felt my self-confidence rising. Sensei Jason does not only teach children karate; he mentions talks that relate to what children should expect in the outside world. Positive environment I really recommend!

stepping in front of the toilet door to stop a 4 year old using the loo before class (as is the usual routine) and expecting him to hold his bladder until the end is bang out of order, then telling my wife to 'get out' after she questioned this and asked him (sensei jason) to chill, very disrespectful behaviour and saying 'he should have gone at home' doesn't justify it. i can understand if this was mid-class and agree that children should be disciplined but this was a clear attempt to make an example out of him infront of the class and could constitute abuse/bullying. since my son started here in december he has not really learned much karate, not many efforts of encouragement, engagement or correcting moves/technique have been made (though some efforts were made by the other taller sensei/black belt). my son initially enjoyed going to this club but soon came to dislike attending, i just hope this has not discouraged him from taking up karate in future. i hope this review is a learning curve in how to conduct onself and not display this kind of rude behaviour in front of the students and parents.

Absolutely amazing club. Very friendly and clean environment. My 10-year-old usually very quickly loses the interest in such activities, but goes to this classes in an uplifting mood and can’t wait for the next Session. Sensei Jason is a master in what he does and deals with the children/parents in such a professional manner. Love the level of discipline and attention to each individual child based on their abilities and needs. I have noticed how fast my child's confidence level has changed ( in a positive way) since attending these classes. Highly recommend this club to anyone who is interested to learn karate!
