The first three digits. This displays the width of the tyre in millimetres. A tyre marked 225 will measure 225mm across the tread from sidewall to sidewall.
The fourth and fifth digits of the tyre code that immediately follow the tyre width. The aspect ratio or profile height of the tyre sidewall is expressed as a percentage of the tyre width. So an aspect ratio of 55 for example means that the profile height of the tyre is 55% of its width.
The next two digits represent the size of the wheel rim that the tyre can be fitted to. It is also the diameter of the tyre from bead to bead. So a tyre marked 16 will fit on a 16-inch wheel rim.
Speed Rating
The speed rating of a tyre is represented by a letter of the alphabet at the end of the tyre size code and indicates the maximum speed capability of the tyre. Tyres receive a speed rating based on a series of tests which measure the tyres capability to handle a set speed for a prolonged period of time.

Went for a puncture repair, but unfortunately the screw was in the shoulder so not repairable. The 2 guys on site were excellent. They contacted the lease company and fitted a new tyre. Arrived at 13.50 and left at 14.30. Great service!

The service was excellent. I ordered a new tyre and booked an appointment. Mo called me to say the tyre had arrived early and that they could fit it right away. The whole thing took no more than 25 minutes

1st Class! Friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. I booked a free wheel alignment test with Kwik Fit online after having issues with uneven tyre wear. The process was very easy and fast, obtaining an appointment within an hour of booking. I was greeted by Mo who carried out the testing and it was confirmed both front tyres were significantly out of alignment. Mo took the time to explain what the readings on Kwik fits laser alignment technology meant and corrected the faults while I waited. Following this I asked if he could check the suspension to see if there were any problems. On this check, unfortunately for me it was discovered one of the suspension springs was broken and needed replacing. Mo declined payment for the work done as he said the alignment would need doing again once the spring was replaced. I will be returning and so very grateful for time taken to explain everything and advice given. Very rare!

Mo was extremely helpful in initially attempting to fix and then replacing my tyre. Delighted with the service and grateful for the speedy turnaround.
