Well tried the homemade pies. Bit disapointed. Pork pie pastry hard and chewy. The steak pie over seasoned. Meat content very high

The price list on their website does not contain any price but just before Christmas many people were in a long line so I decided to check the place out. Unfortunately I got robbed. I was charged a whopping £39 per kg for a rump steak & £37 per kilo for sirloin. For that kind of price I hoped rump to be tender but it wasn’t so I’m not sure what’s the justification for that sort of price. If the price is almost twice than you’d get from other butchers then you’d expect something surprising. My sirloin was packed thickly in plastic & it seemed that not much fat was at the side of the meat. When I unpacked the meat at home, it turned out thar my 600g sirloin contained 300g of side fat which rendered my price of a steak to about +£70 per kilo. The sirloin was nice & tender I must say but unfortunately not miraculously good to justify £70+ per kilo price. When reading other reviews then it seems that people recommend this place because their cuts are great & meat has excellent taste properties. Well, my experience was exact opposite. No butcher has sold me a sirloin steak containing 50% fat on sides nor was their rump steak anything special. I tried to find some info on their website whether they buy in meat from rare & special breeds that are perhaps100% grass feed from the moment they were born but they only mention briefly that they buy in Hereford & Angus and that’s it. I like support local businesses but this time I got a feeling that I was charged double for no particular reason. Will never visit again.
