The Urmston Manacare Charity shops are fantastic for grabbing a real bargain. The prices are realistic with small Items priced as low as 50p . Most Charity shops start at £1 and used clothing items at Stupid prices I saw the other day a used mens t-shirt £10 I know they're in business is to raise as money as they can But not ripping people off. Manacare ,definitely worth a visit .

Firstly, it would seem that Manacare is opperating more as a Second Hand business, and less than a charity, as the previous reviewer mentioned. If you would like your donated belongings to go to a well publicised and familiar charity in Urmston then there are plenty of shops to choose from, including Oxfam, Sue Ryder, PDSA, and Cancer Research to name but a few. Most of these will also ask you to fill out a form when donating goods (eg. Oxfam) so that they can claim back the tax made on the sale of items, which ensures they can generate the maximum profit to give to their chosen causes. This would suggest to me that they operate legitimately as a registered charity and are very conscious of making every penny count. I recently had a huge clear out and have been back and forth to Manacare with car-fulls of my own donated furniture, books, clothes, glassware, electrical items etc. almost on a daily basis. I always considered Manacare to be quite an eclectic shop and thought that my belongings would sell really well for them there. A lot of these items were reasonably valuable, but since I don't have the time or space to store and sell them I thought they would better serve 'a good cause' instead. Strange then, when everyday I called in, none of these items were to be seen for sale! The shop itself was pretty empty too so my donation's absence didn't appear to be due to a lack of space. I can only conclude, with a heavy heart and like the previous reviewer, that my items were designated for a car boot sale somewhere and I have no way of accertaining if the money made there will definitely go to directly help "raped babies in Africa" and "handicapped children in Egypt" as the Manacare Foundation website cites. I write this review today after a donation trip to a well known Urmston charity shop and hearing from staff and customers the bad experiences they have had at Manacare. Combined with my personal experience, and after doing a bit of research about them online, and I will not be donating to or buying from them again. Think - are you 100% sure that you know where your belongings or money will end up?

This is not a charity but a second hand business. This is completely disgusting. The owners are extremely rude and hostile.
