First time at Mother Hubbards even though I've wanted to go for a very long time. Came here with my family, ordered the normal fish and chips. Portion size was really good for what you pay. The fish batter was crispy, just how I like it. I'm not a big fan of curry sauce, but I do like to try different ones. The curry sauce from here tasted too much of cardamom, so I wasn't keen. Place had an adequate amount of seating. A couple of little complaints, the server did mess up our order, but it was easily rectified, and everyone was happy. Also £1.20 for a can is a bit extortionate. But we would definitely go again, especially when we're craving fish and chips.

I live in UK for 11 years, tried many places and I absolutely hate the fish and chips in general. My family came for Christmas to visit me and wanted to try the “famous fish and chips”, I did my research and I decided to give a try on “Old Mother Hubbards”. I absolutely loved it! The staff is friendly and welcoming, the fish had a great natural flavour, extremely great portion, not soggy and chips were good too! Traditional decorations on indoors and high chairs available for the little ones. I didn’t give 5 stars because I like to give my honest feedback. Kids chicken nuggets are really extremely small but oversized on chips. The chairs were quite harder, windows and tables weren’t clean thoroughly , what doesn’t make it the restaurant transpired at the best (not a complain but a comment for improvement. Of course, if owners would like to improve their restaurant). Thank you! Overall recommend it and I will be back shortly for sure.

Just ordered from here. Thy have the BEST home-made cheese and onion pie! Normally I used to get it from Jack Spratts but since thy closed I thought I'm never gona find that same taste again.... but the home-made cheese and onion at Mother Hubbards is the best by far! My sister is in love with it. She takes it back to London every time she visits..... all the food is always nice and fresh... my little one has additional needs and is picky with food, but the fish bites from here he absolutely loves! Always go down as a good treat. Nice n soft with flavour... Keep it up guys 😊

Apart from the 30 min wait, the food was really good. The fish was soft and flaky on the inside and the batter crunchy. Chips were very nice - just right. Chicken and mushroom pie was cold unfortunately so don't have much else to say. Decor needs refreshing for those eating in.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Mother Hubbard's Fish and Chips, located just outside of Oldham town, and wanted to share my experience. One of the highlights of this establishment is the quality of their fish and chips. The fish had a crispy and flavorful battered coating, and the portions were generous. I found the fish to be meaty and delicious, making for a satisfying meal. In addition to the fish and chips, I also tried the sausage, and I must say it was excellent. The sausages were flavorful and added a nice variation to the menu. It's worth giving them a try if you're looking for something different. Inside the restaurant, there was plenty of seating available, which was a relief as I visited during a busy period. The staff members were polite and pleasant, providing good service throughout my visit. While I enjoyed my meal, one aspect that could be improved is the menu board. It seemed a bit outdated compared to other similar fish and chip shops I've been to. It would be great to see more set meal options offered, such as a combination of fish, chips, sides, and a drink. This would make ordering more convenient and provide more choices for customers. To sum it up, my personal experience at Mother Hubbard's Fish and Chips was positive. The fish and chips were of good quality, the sausage option was excellent, and the staff members were friendly. Although there are areas for improvement, such as updating the menu and adding a set meal option, I would recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area and craving some classic fish and chips.
