When it was "prais" loyalty was appreciated, now sadly its gone out the window, no customer support, unprofessional- when you ring its " opticians" if your lucky , if not goes straight to voicemail with an abrupt " i know who you are , leave a message" to top it all and end my 11 years with them the prices have gone from £165 to £650 within the last year for ortho k lenses! Ive obviously contributed to the naff renovations- whereby you can hear a full medical questionnaire being conducted in the exam room, but you can stare at a kettle whilst choosing your overpriced frames. They havent even used the money to update to the latest screening technology! My advice - avoid , they need to drop the name prais as its shaming Michael's reputation.

We went yesterday, welcoming service right from the start, the lad at reception was helpful and welcoming. My appointment was quick and easy, put my mind at rest and checked a lot of health stuff as well. No upselling, no pointless sales banter, just a honest service.

We have been customers of Prais opticians for approximately 25 years The original optician Michael Prais was the lovelist and most helpful optician, and he always had our loyalty and business. He had a wonderful reputation in the area. However, the shop was taken over a couple of years ago by a new optician called Vicky, who continued to use the name Prais Opticians. We have continued to attend the opticians with the new owner, but my son and husband had to leave due to the hours of practice being very limited, and not work friendly whatsover. The final straw to sever ties with Vicky came a couple of weeks ago. My daughter who works full time, often until 6pm, felt her eyesight was deteriorating and that her prescription needed increasing. She was unable to get an appointment for an eye test that would fit in with her work schedule, she is a dentist, and with the close, intricate work involved, good eyesight is vital. So she had to book a sight test at Costco Optical. It was the first ever time she had ever been tested outside of Prais opticians. As suspected her prescription had increased. She had 4 fully sealed, boxes of daily contact lenses expiring in 2024 which were no longer adequate for her vision. So I took the new prescription and the 4 sealed boxes into Prais opticians, explained the reason for the Costco eye test, and that she wanted to continue at Prais, and could they possibly exchange the 4 boxes for the updated prescription? The answer was NO they wouldn't, because she did not have her sight test there. I explained again, about the lack of hours and her job and the importance of perfect vision, but was told I could ' exchange them, but would have to pay for the new ones' !!!!! I am thoroughly disgusted with the customer service, and I informed them they had lost a loyal customer of 17 years. The standard of care has deteriorated since the shop was taken over and I find it an insult that it is still trading under the name Prais Opticians.
