An important notice for the attention of all Pride Planning Limited funeral plan holders.
I can confirm that Darren Brookes of Milner Boardman & Partners was appointed Administrator of Pride Planning Ltd (“Pride”) (“the Company”) on 25 October 2022. Link to Administrator’s Notice of Appointment.
As detailed in each of our previous communications with you, from 29th July 2022 the provision of funeral plans became an activity regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (“FCA”). The Company initially intended to become FCA regulated and to continue its business subject to regulation; however, the Company subsequently decided to withdraw from the funeral plan industry and not to pursue FCA regulation. The FCA granted firms in this position until 31 October 2022 to make arrangements for the transfer of their plans to a new provider.
Dignity Funerals Limited (“Dignity”), who are authorised and regulated by the FCA, committed before 31 October 2022 to providing existing customers of the Company that are affected by these circumstances with a funeral plan. Dignity offered you the opportunity to enter into a regulated Dignity Funeral Plan that matched the plan you purchased as closely as possible and at no additional cost to the price you agreed with the Company, provided you ‘opted in’ to the transfer on or before 13 January 2023.
That agreement has now expired, and I am currently winding down the Company’s operations. I can no longer facilitate the transfer of existing plan holders who have not already ‘opted in’ to transfer to Dignity.
If you have already opted into a Dignity plan and you have any queries regarding your plan and transition, please call Dignity direct on 0808 234 1417.
As previously advised, the monies that you have paid into your funeral plan are held on Trust and do not form part of the Administration estate. Any plan holders who have not ‘opted in’ to a Dignity plan and who do not receive a full refund from the Trust will not be creditors in the Administration as their entitlements are governed by their contracts with the Company and are limited to their share of the available funds in the Trust.
The Trustees are currently obtaining an actuarial valuation of the Trust fund’s assets and will then calculate the relevant amounts to which plan holders are entitled. The Actuary and the Trustees will make the calculation and the Trustees will distribute the relevant amount to you.
This process is taking longer than originally anticipated, due to matters out of my control, and I apologise for any stress and inconvenience caused. We expect that the Trustees should have the actuarial position ascertained in May 2023. The amounts to be refunded will be calculated as part of this exercise and you should expect to hear from the Trust, with further details, in May 2023.
The Pride team will not be able to provide a further update on any refunds at this time, or, process any new transfer requests to Dignity as the deadline has passed but they can be reached at info@prideplanning.co.uk or by calling 0800 014 9650 to explain the contents of this letter or discuss any other queries you may have.
Should you have any queries specifically relating to the Administration of the Company please contact Milner Boardman & Partners at 187A Ashley Road, Hale, Altrincham WA15 9SQ or by email at office@milnerboardman.co.uk.

Do not buy their plans. They don't deserve any star rating. I took out two plans for my family. Since the market offered better plans, opted to change. At the time of cancellation, they tell me that my plans are different than what I originally signed for. Took 2 Gold plans and paid identical amounts on both and I have all the relevant paperwork. Though their systems show that one plan is Gold and one Silver??? Secondly, their cancellation fees are high (£595 + admin. cost of around £250-£300) depending on how long you have paid in. I paid for 2 years and those were my cancellation charges. Almost £800 lost on each plan. Stay away! There are better plans in the market.

I have cancelled my funeral policy with this company some thirteen weeks ago and have still to hear from them. There has been no acknowledgement from them and I am now giving them seven day to respond or legal proceedings will be commenced.

Rip off they take your money but don't tell you they charge interest as well, also if you cancel they charge you 100s of pounds. An account was frozen with over £700 paid in won't give a refund because of the charges the charge disgusting company

Shame on this company that took my money for 5 years and then sold out to Dignity without me even dying first the robbers ! Never contemplate a funeral with this company or Sister company Dignity. They take your first 5 years money, sell and inflate the cost !

This company through one of their subsidiaries sold a plan to my mother, they issued a funeral director to her that was miles and miles away in a town she had never heard of then claimed to have made a follow up call to ensure she was satisfied with it. She did not receive this call as she would never have accepted a location she didn't know. then she moved and they issued another one that was still a long way away. There was no negotiation, no asking if it was ok, it's just the one they use so it's the one they give you! She spent ages trying to speak to someone to say it wasn't any good for her and several times they just didn't bother returning calls. Eventually when we spoke to them they just said tough! it's within 25 miles so you have to keep it or if you cancel you have to pay £600!!! This os NOT a company that cares about it's customers in anyway! considering the service they are supposed to provide they could look at each case individually and be flexible to meet their customers needs but they don't, they just keep stating their terms and conditions and don't care that an elderly widow is loosing £600 from an already small pension!!!
