We are the UK’s vehicle-mounted access platform specialists. Our self drive fleet ranges from 10m – 27m and can be driven on a standard car license. You simply arrive at one of our depots, collect your machine, drive away to site and self-operate. We can also deliver and collect your machine, if this is more convenient.
We have depots located in Hemel Hempstead, Birmingham, Manchester, Dartford, Sheffield, Bristol and Southampton. Our depots are conveniently located approximately five minutes from major motorways.
A handover familiarisation is provided with every hire, so you will leave feeling confident with the control functions. Our engineers are also on call 24/7, should you require any technical support. We can facilitate official training in locations across the country, in IPAF, PASMA, MEWPs for Managers and more.
As an alternative to self drive hire, we also provide operated machines. Our experienced and qualified operators will arrive at your specified site, at your desired time, operate the machine for you and leave when you’re finished. Our operated fleet ranges from 20m – 56m and beyond.

First time hire and what a great experience, Smart by name and the service certainly was - outstanding. Looked after by Terry from booking over the phone, to completing the hire paperwork on collection. Professional handover/familiarisation was good, as was the condition of the unit. Off hiring was quick and easy, overall a great service. Would 100% recommend and use again in the future. AAA+++

Hired a 17m cherry picker over a 5 day period for self drive. Setting up an account and making a booking was really easy. Terry looked after us from start to finish and an engineer gave us a full introduction to the operating procedures. When we had some operational questions on the job, engineer support was available to guide us through and they were very friendly and helpful. Returning the vehicle was quick and easy and the overall service was top notch. We will be using the firm again as the self hire they offer is pretty unique and the service and support made the job much easier.

Amazing service, have tried dealing with other companies and not got anywhere fast. From the moment they took my call they were professional and attentive. On arrival I was greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome. The amazing engineers ran me through everything I needed to know about the machine which was brilliant. No question was too much trouble. On arrival back after our week hire I was again met by 2 guys who checked over the machine and were very welcoming. Well done guys. Will definitely be back. Let down by my normal supplier, I turned to Smart platforms in Manchester. Very easy to register with, excellent friendly service. Terry looked after booking the machine out then introduced me to the fitter that ran through all of the usage instructions. So easy to use, did exactly what it said on the tin! Will definitely go back to use when we have the need to and would highly recommend them to colleagues and friends, thanks lads all the best from Choices Decorators 👍👌👋
