Stockport Wedding Services (SWS) have been providing a Couture Wedding Gown Alteration Service based in Stockport Cheshire in the North West of England for over 15 years. Their reputation is second to none and are recommended by some of the best bridal gown retailers within a 30 mile radius. Amina, the owner has extensive experience in bridal and costume wear having produced bespoke bridal gowns and costumes for the theatre. She heads the team at SWS believing in quality and providing the best possible service in very comfortable surroundings. There is on-street parking and private parking is also available at the rear of the premises. SWS are busy throughout the year and consequently exercise a strict appointment system at all times. However, they understand that sometimes the best laid plans can go wrong and will do their utmost to fit in any last minute requests. This has meant SWS accommodating brides from all other parts of the UK, Europe, Australia, North America, Canada, Far East and the Middle East, particularly Dubai, with great success. On a regular basis, SWS are asked to act as consultants when wedding gowns have been altered by less experienced companies and the work has to be corrected before the bride can walk down the aisle. There have been situations where a bride has been so distraught and ready to throw the gown away and buy a replacement, but SWS have stepped in and saved the day - and consequently saved the bride a lot of money! Amina is lovely and so knowledgeable with her craft. My dress needed taking in and the back needed extra embellishments adding, somewhat last minute! Amina was calm and reassuring and pulled out all the stops to get some extra detail to stitch onto the back. Even though I was always too hot when I came to try the dress on ;) Amina had a good sense of humour and stayed calm and helpful and her skills meant I looked and felt like a million dollars on my perfect day!

Perfect. My wedding dress needed taking in and taking up, I contacted Stockport Wedding Services months in advance and Amina reassured me that it would all be fine. Amina did the alterations fantastically. She made sure I was happy and comfortable, showed me how to walk and hold my bouquet, and made sure I felt confident in my dress. I bought my veil from Stockport Wedding Services which was also a beautiful addition to my outfit for the day. Thank you!

I can’t stress enough Amina’s skill and professionalism. My dress was far from ideal and 3 previous seamstresses basically said it was a lost cause or they did not have time to sort it. However Amina was my saving grace; within a month she sorted everything. I strongly recommended her as I would’ve had to get a whole new dress if it was not for her.
