Former family home of Sir Edward Holt in the late 1800s, the Woodthorpe is a flagship Holts pub located just across the road from Heaton Park. This beautiful, family-friendly pub, which also has three en-suite rooms for overnight stays, is brimming with character, warmth and history. In keeping with the buildings roots you’ll find original features, carved wood and plenty of references to the former home.
The pub also has a heated outdoor terrace and large beer garden. Children are more than welcome in the Woodthorpe during the day and afternoon but we kindly ask for no children to be in the pub after 8pm.
The Woodthorpe is great food pub serving a wide-range of dishes including hearty pub classics, roasts, wraps and sandwiches, as well as salads, vegan dishes and curries. Being just a few miles down the road from the brewery, you’ll always get an exceptional pint of cask ale or award-winning lager with plenty of other choice from the bar including a fresh gin and rum menu, great wine and a selection of teas and coffees.
If you’re looking to watch live sports on Sky and BT, the Woodthorpe is a great place to catch all the action with plenty of TVs to choose from. The Woodthorpe also has a large function room for hire with a private bar and catering point. Please enquiry for details.
Located just outside Manchester city centre, the Woodthorpe is a popular place to stay all year round. Book a stay with us direct below, or visit The Woodthorpe Hotel page for more information on our double rooms, family rooms and availability.

Ordered a small dish of chicken skewers, I didn’t expect it to be 2 tiny pieces of chicken for £7! Caesar salad was vile, tasted like chemicals and the food took over an hour to arrive and most of the order was mixed up but everyone was too hungry to send it back. Kids meals were dry and bland. Shame because the young staff are lovely but the older woman who served us was incredibly rude. Second time I’ve been now and been served by the same rude person and the food has been poor. In a nice local spot but don’t think we will be returning, over priced, some rude stuff and bad management 😕

Visited for food. Whilst the food was lovely we waited over an hour for it. Wait staff all seem very stressed, but did manage the situation well and were friendly.

Came here for food which was amazing. Local lager was also good. Fantastic and friendly staff and service. I was here on a visit to Manchester but if I was local I would be here everyday

A first class Sunday lunch. Being a Sunday it was very busy and we had to wait just over an hour for the food but it was well worth the wait. Succulent roast turkey with all the trimmings, roast gammon and a nut roast, extras included cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. Service was excellent, the staff couldn’t do enough. Will definitely go there again.

A quick catch up with friends after a walk in the park. Dogs were made welcome. We only had snacks but I have eaten here before and do recommend it. Tables can't be booked though and are offered on a first come first served basis so do get there in good time if it's a popular time.
